Still Life Drawing

This is a still life drawing of three objects, which are a paintbrush, an apple, and a jar. I drew this piece with a pencil and it was a 3 hour piece. I used Da Vinci's six rules of light to show the light source and I focused on the shadows. I also applied many values to the different objects to give them depth. The range of values added contrast to my drawing. My goal in this piece was to make the objects look as realistic as possible. In this artwork, I learned how to add dramatic contrast to make certain areas stand out. This piece turned out better than I thought it would, because I worked hard to apply all of the composition and rules of light components. I also used thin lines to show details that were closer and thick lines for farther away objects.
