Self Portrait
This is a full length drawing portrait, so I spent three hours completing the piece. I used a graphite pencil on a large piece of paper. I drew the portrait vertically since the head is taller than it is wide. I also used spacing so that it was centered and not off to the side to make the piece balanced. When drawing the face and body, I used a lot of proportions, such as the face is 5 eye lengths wide and the neck starts in line with the outside corner of the eyes. I also used line quality with dark and light lines to show contrast. Using shading, I showed what areas were farther back, such as around the eyes and the neck below the chin. My goal with this self portrait was to make it look as realistic as possible and use the correct shading.
