Grey Paper Drawing

This drawing is of pencils in a cup, and I drew it vertically since pencils are taller than they are wide. The white areas are from white charcoal and the dark areas are from black charcoal. The grey is the paper to bring the white and black together. The highlights and light source are on the right side, and the shadows and darker areas on the left. I used correct proportion so that the pencils were correct in size and not too small when compared to the cup. I tried to make the lines thicker with the pencils in the background because they are farther away, and they also are darker because the edges aren't as clear. My goal in this piece was to show the light and dark areas correctly, and to use the grey to transition.
